Description
In the 1930s and 1940s he travelled several times through the beautiful country of Yemen. About his travels and stays in the Middle East, Daniel van der Meulen wrote many books, articles and unpublished journals. This publication is mainly based on these writings. He also was a talented photographer and collector of photographs. Part of his collection is kept at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam and is brought together is this book.
In October 1978 an 'Agreement on Technical Cooperation' was signed between Yemen and the Netherlands. This agreement still forms the legal framework for the bilateral Development Cooperation. On the occasion of this 25 years of excellent relations, this special book is published.
Daniel van der Meulen in Arabia Felix contains unique photographic documents and underlines the history of excellent bilateral ties and presents the intention for continuing cooperation and friendship between the governments and peoples of the Republic of Yemen and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
